In an effort to unlatch myself from the digital teat of of our Tech Overlords (quit getting distracted by my phone), I've taken a number of steps in my life that lessen the need to take my phone out of my pocket or purse. One of those steps I took was to unearth my old digital camera from the bowels of "storage" (unpacked moving boxes from 5 years ago). It's been unusual carrying around a digital camera everywhere again, but it's been kinda fun, too. I wish the battery lasted longer, however --there's something fucked with the charging capabilities, I've been rotating out three different batteries that don't get above a quarter charge. It's an old camera that was not taken care of and left to languish in a box, I'm surprised it turned on at all!!
I don't get to often, but sometimes I travel. Usually not far, but regardless of where I go, I like to look back on the good memories. Here you will find those records: the newest will be featured here, and as they get shuffled out you will find old posts under the links for month/year. I host a majority of my images on CubeUpload, and sometimes it gets a little screwy. If the pictures don't appear, I apologize.

Gratuitous Useage of the word "Peach"
Last year, I connected with a delightful couple that wanted to strengthen community bonds so that people had access to a local support network. They opened up their garden to whoever wanted to come, and let us pick as many peaches as we could walk away with. This year, I got the invite to go back and get some more! I was so happy. Peaches are literally* my favorite fruit, and it is so hard to get good ones where I live without spending --what I condsider-- a rather obscene amount.
(*I'm not joking in even the slightest: I want to be cremated and put in one of those eco urns that lets you grow a tree, and I want a peach tree.)
It was really fun to go back over the hills and see how they had changed the layout of their garden, eat some food, socialize, and of course, to pick peaches. (*insert "Peaches" by The Presidents of the United States of America* here*)

Those folks are just the nicest, and the hostess is literally just the sweetest lady ever. She remembered me, which is more than I ever expected after a year, and her husband set up a table with little naan breads for all of us to make our own pizzas for dinner. After we ate, we all descended on the poor overloaded peach tree and stripped that puppy bare! I think we came away with 10 boxes of peaches? They were all so full, it was probably closer to 16 if we had more trays.
I stayed until it was quite dark, but it was good fun, and the people are always so nice. I wish I wasn't so awkward around folks I don't know, I think I could have had an even better time.
